WeatherMama is a simple service that will text message you the weather forecast for the upcoming day, so you can remember to "bring a sweater!"
True, but in the future WeatherMama will make recommendations on what to wear, based on your personal preferences and the weather forecast. In phase 3, we intend to add predictive modeling that make an educated guess on whether you should bring a sweater (or wear shorts) based on weighted survey responses.
This is just the beginning!
We rely on a zipcode database to make our forecasts. If your city/town doesn't work, try a nearby town, or contact us with your zipcode and we'll add you to our list!
Yes! Our forecasts query the National Weather Service using latitude and longitude. If you don't live in the US and are interested in using WeatherMama, just contact us. If there is significant demand, we'll prioritize adding non-US postal codes in.
Text messages sent by WeatherMama are subject to normal text messaging rates as defined by your plan or provider. To stop receiving text messages from WeatherMama, simply uncheck the 'Alert active' checkbox in your profile.
WeatherMama uses providers' E-mail to SMS gateways in order to remain free. If your mobile provider isn't listed, simply contact us with the details of your providers' SMS to E-mail gateway and we'll add it in.
